Wayne Carson of course wrote with Mark James and Johnny Christopher the all time great "Always On My MInd" recorded by everyone it seems as well as classic versions by Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley and The Pet Shop Boys. Wayne was inducted into the Songwriters hall of fame in 1997 and also wrote "The Letter" "Soul Deep", "Drinkin' Thing", "She's Actin Single I'm Drinkin' Doubles"and "I See The Want To In Your Eyes" just to scratch the surface. Wayne has won Two Grammys, Also winning two CMA Song of the year trophies ( Both for "Always on My Mind". As you'll see in the picture above. When LA and I spent the day with Wayne and his lovely wife Wyndi we shot this portrait with both of his CMA trophies side by side, the first in 1982 was wood, and the second in 1983 was crystal. After Wayne won back to back for the same song, The CMA changed the rule so one song could not win back to back, another example how Wayne Carson makes his own rules when it comes to music!
LA and I Spent an afternoon interviewing and shooting Bob at his office in Nashville where we got this shot of him Barefoot on the Bricks showing all of his number one songs, including "American Made" by the Oak Ridge Boys which changed commercials and how songs got paid for them as well as "Blue Clear Sky" by George Strait, Vince Gill's "Worlds Apart" and The Church On the Cumberland Road" by Shenandoah. There are so many more and so much more to tell but we will save it for the book! Thank you Bob for letting us into your world for a day!
LA and I went to Wartrace TN to visit my old friend Charlie Louvin and his wife Betty at the end of November 2010. Charlie was and is part of the Rock and Roll Hall of fame and Country Music Hall of Fame along with his Brother Ira,The Louvin Brothers. A long time member of the Grand Ole Opry and that is how we first met Charlie, out at the Opry. Charlie and his brother Ira had Legendary Harmony, Along with songs they wrote that inspired a generation of Rock and Roll as well as Country Artists for Decades. The Shot above shows Charlie Holding one of Ira's Mandolins along with his parents Radio they first heard the Louvin Brothers on and a publicity shot from the fifties of him and Ira as well as the poster from his last night on the Opry behind him. This picture will always mean a lot to LA and I. Thank you Charlie and Betty!, This was Charlie Louvin's last photo shoot. He passed January 26, 2011
The Lovely and Talented Leslie Satcher, Leslie is the first writer to tell LA and I Yes, come on over here and shoot your book! She and David helped us start something that at the time none of us thought would become what it has and this tribute to the writers keeps growing every day! Leslie opened up her home and told us great stories and let us have access to everything Leslie. This shot turned out to be our first of many Album covers from this project. Leslie is also one of the most talented songwriters in the world. Writing such hits as "Troubadour" for George Strait, "When God Fearin' Woment Get the Blues" for Martina McBride and so many more we'll have to wait for the book to get them all in. Thank you Leslie and David for letting LA and I be a small part of your life
